Place: Shakti peeth Nandipur is situated at Birbhum district of West Bengal. The exact place of temple situation is known as Nandipur. People from ancient time used to recognize the place with the name of Santhia town. The popular place is also known as Swadhinpur. The place is just at the east of Saithia rail station and very near to this station. Name of the main temple there is Nandikeshwari temple.


Description: During the journey of Lord Shiva with the dead body of Mata sati, the necklace of Mata Sati fell down at Nandipur. The idol of goddess is known as Nandini where as Lord Shiva is known as Nandikishore. Today, Santhia is known as the trade headquarters of Birbhum district. This place is just 180 km away from Howrah Junction in Kolkata. It is around 40km away from Rampurhat station which is the nearest big station where direct trains are available from Kolkata.



Special information about this Place: The main temple is spread in a large area and inside this temple there are many small temples devoted to many avatars or Maa durga. There is also an ancient old Banyan tree which is placed inside the temple area and devotees binds ropes with red color with a wish to Maa Durga in this holey place. It is believed that if you make a wish there it will come to be true.

Main idol in the temple is a black stone which is now almost Red as devotees use Sindur to pray the Holy Stone as Maa. Three eyes of Maa durga is marked on the stone. Every day this temple is open from 9am to 4pm for the devotees. Another special point is, most of the temples of 51 peetha has photography prohibited, but there is no restrictions on photography here.
